Approve software patches for applications

Approve patches for third-party software using the Direct Support tools. If a third-party application requires a patch to resolve issues, you can approve and install the patch immediately.

This option is only available for applications that have software patches available. If a patch is required, a yellow warning icon appears in the Patch Required column. Select the icon for information about the required patch.

This feature is only available for managed Windows devices with N-able N-central agents installed.

  1. Go to Views All Devices.
  2. Choose the Network Devices tab.
  3. Select the device Name.
  4. Go to Tools> Applications.
  5. Check the Patch Required column to see which applications have available updates, indicated by a warning triangle. To view patch details, click the warning triangle icon.

  6. Select the check box next to the application name.

  7. You can only perform this action if Third-Party Patching is enabled. For more information see Patch Detection Control.

  8. Choose Install Patch Now.

N-able N-central downloads and installs the update on the device.
